Paediatric Chiropractic in Orchard
Children grow fast, and sometimes, their bodies struggle to keep up. From birth through to the teenage years, the spine and nervous system are constantly adapting. Chiropractic care can help support that growth by encouraging better alignment, movement, and nervous system regulation in a gentle and age-appropriate way.
Whether it’s a newborn adjusting to life outside the womb or a teen dealing with sports-related strain, even small physical stressors may affect posture, sleep, digestion, and focus. Our role is to help the body stay balanced so kids can enjoy their day-to-day activities – from crawling to cartwheels – without unnecessary tension.
From Four Days to Sixteen Years – We’ve Got Them Covered
Our Orchard practice welcomes children at every stage of development. Some come in just days after birth for feeding or latch support. Others visit after long stretches of screen time, a tumble off the playground, or signs of uneven posture. There’s no set age that’s “right”; if something feels off, that’s a good time to check in.
Infants and children respond differently to care than adults. Because their spines are still forming, a gentle touch often goes further. That’s why our techniques for babies are incredibly light – more like testing the ripeness of a grape than a typical adjustment.
Gentle, Child-Led Techniques That Fit Their World
Adjustments for kids aren’t scaled-down adult versions – they’re designed specifically for developing bodies. A newborn might rest on a parent’s chest while we use fingertip pressure to support spinal movement. Toddlers often stay distracted by toys or books while we adjust around their wiggling.
For school-age children, adjustments might include mild joint releases or instrument-assisted methods. We keep it playful, naming the “pop” sound or letting kids help “click” the tool. Older children and teens are more involved in their sessions, asking questions and sharing their feelings.
If a child says, “stop,” we always pause. Respecting boundaries builds trust, which helps kids feel it’s okay to return.
The First Visit: What Parents Should Expect
We start by getting to know your child, not just medically, but personally. We ask about birth history, milestones, daily habits, moods, and any concerns. The exam is thorough but comfortable, and you’ll stay with your child the whole time.
Most kids need fewer visits than adults. That’s because their bodies are still highly adaptable. Once we see how they respond, we’ll recommend a rhythm that fits your family’s life.
Helping Parents Understand the Why
Education is a big part of what we do. We don’t just adjust and send you on your way; we explain what we’re seeing and how it relates to your child’s health. Whether it’s helping you spot subtle posture changes or explaining how growth stages affect spinal movement, we make sure you always feel informed.
